Job summary

USCG Community Services Command in San Juan, PR, seeks a part-time Child Care Assistant (PT 6923) to support the Child Development Center. You will plan and deliver early childhood activities, work with staff to implement curriculum, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for children and youth throughout daily operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, English fluency, and 1 year of experience with children. Applicable background checks and medical clearance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and sit/stand/bend routinely.
• Able to complete Tier 1 background checks with state checks.
• Able to pass Civilian Medical Clearance every two years.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of material to promote development.
• Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum and activities with staff.
• Maintains a safe program environment and promotes positive interactions.
• Prepares and maintains indoor/outdoor activity areas and materials.
• Monitors children in all areas and ensures safety; assists with snacks/meals when applicable.
• Completes required daily reports and assists with program participation data.
• Other duties as assigned.
