Primary Purpose
Provide quality customer service within the Center Store (Grocery) Department. Responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience.
- Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
- Keep shelves and shelf tag moldings clean with a damp cloth, as needed, when stocking.
- Maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag.
- Ensure only saleable merchandise is placed on shelves.
- Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise are done according to policies and guidelines.
- Understand and use company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO).
- Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
- Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Report accidents to the Manager on Duty following established procedures.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Wear the Food Lion uniform with a name badge, maintaining a neat appearance while adhering to dress code.
- Complete required training courses, including Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
- Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
- Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate computers and communication systems required for the job.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
- Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Use a pallet jack to move up to 2000 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods, walk short distances frequently.
- Handle various substances related to cleaning, packaging, fresh produce, and household items.
- Handle currency and operate equipment like cash registers and scanners.
- Reach and grasp at waist level and occasionally above or below shoulder level.
- Meet activity standards for the role.
- Tolerate working in extreme temperatures for short periods.
- Have sufficient visual ability to check IDs and written documents.
