Primary Purpose

Provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. Responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
  2. Be courteous and helpful to other associates
  3. Understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinate colors
  4. Understand production standards for processing all products
  5. Follow all technical manuals for processing products, label placement, etc.
  6. Ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment, and proper food handling/preparation
  7. Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise are done in accordance with policies and guidelines
  8. Maintain a complete understanding of and adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
  9. Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
  10. Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause accidents to associates or customers
  11. Report all accidents in accordance with established procedures to the Manager on Duty
  12. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  13. Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, maintaining a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the dress code
  14. Use company tools such as the inventory system (ACIS) and ordering system (CAO)
  15. Successfully complete Computer-Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses
  16. Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  2. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  3. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
  4. Ability to use technical information to solve problems
  5. Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
  6. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to use computers and communication systems required for the job
  2. Perform repetitive hand and arm motions
  3. Lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
  4. Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally
  5. Stand 100% of the time, with frequent short-distance walking
  6. Handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials
  7. Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level
  8. Meet activity volume standards for the position
  9. Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
