Primary Purpose

Provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. Responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience.
  2. Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
  3. Understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinate colors.
  4. Understand production standards for processing all products.
  5. Follow all technical manuals for processing products, label placement, etc.
  6. Ensure proper sanitation of the department, equipment, and proper food handling/preparation.
  7. Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise are done in accordance with policies and guidelines.
  8. Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
  9. Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
  10. Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
  11. Report all accidents to the Manager on Duty in accordance with procedures.
  12. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  13. Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, name badge, and maintain a neat appearance while adhering to dress code.
  14. Use company tools like ACIS and CAO effectively.
  15. Complete required training courses successfully.
  16. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  3. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  4. Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
  5. Must meet minimum age requirements.
  6. Ability to meet physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to use computers and communication systems.
  2. Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
  3. Bend and lift products up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  4. Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
  5. Stand 100% of the time, with frequent short-distance walking.
  6. Handle substances related to cleaning and packaging.
  7. Reach and grasp at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist.
  8. Meet activity volume standards.
  9. Tolerate working in extreme temperatures for up to 20 minutes.
