Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and 2+ years Lifeguard experience and 3+ years supervisory experience.
  • Must have valid Class C Texas driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must have Lifeguard Certification or obtain within 60 days.
  • Must have LGI certification or obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain.
  • Must be certified Food Manager or obtain within 120 days.
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
  • CPO or Aquatic Facility Operator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing Splash Station facility, employees, and patrons.
  • Maintain safety and ensure amenities are operational.
  • Oversee maintenance and operations within the supervised area.
  • Respond to citizen complaints and coordinate with staff as needed.

Compensation - $17.05/hr

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for assisting with maintenance and operations at Splash Station to ensure all amenities are operational and public safety is maintained. This supervisory position requires you to assist in overseeing the facility, its employees, and its patrons.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Requires knowledge of Lifeguard Water Safety Instructor skills and safety programs
  • Ability to work with a variety of guests by completing various tasks
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and ask for clarification when needed
  • Must be independent, a self-starter, and be able to listen to citizen complaints and concerns
  • Ability to supervise and motivate employees
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departmental employees and with the general public
  • Ability to establish and maintain files and records
  • Requires the ability to swim
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent; and have at least two (2) years of previous Lifeguard experience and three (3) years of supervisory experience; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

A Valid Class C Texas driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record

Must have a valid Lifeguard Certification or be able to obtain one within 60 days

Must have a valid LGI certification or be able to obtain one within 120 days of hire and maintain

Must be certified Food Manager or be able to obtain one within 120 days

Water Safety Instructor Certification is preferred

Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) is preferred

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS

Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months.

Handles chemicals of various types for cleaning and to balance the swimming pool's chemistry

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Standard office equipment, including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, printer, pool equipment, including pumps, filters, backwash system, automatic fill, pool vacuum, pool heater, dome equipment, all lifeguard equipment, automatic chemical feeder, all concession stand equipment, etc.
