Position Summary
The PT Aide 2 supports the therapy team by assisting with the safe mobilization of medically complex patients, preparing treatment areas and equipment, and performing delegated non‑skilled tasks under the direct supervision of licensed therapy staff. The aide also provides clerical and administrative support, assists with department projects and operational initiatives, and helps maintain an organized, efficient, and safe patient care environment.

Department Summary
The Hospital Therapy Department provides high‑quality, patient‑centered rehabilitation services to hospitalized individuals recovering from orthopedic, neurological, musculoskeletal, and various medical conditions. Our licensed physical therapist assistants deliver evidence‑based care focused on restoring function, improving mobility, and enhancing quality of life. The department operates within the hospital’s broader continuum of care and collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other allied health professionals to ensure seamless, coordinated treatment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Courses in anatomy, physiology and/or physics, preferred.
- Maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI).
Department Qualifications
- Assist with safe mobilization, transfer, positioning, and ambulation of medically complex patients under the direct supervision of licensed therapy staff, following established safety procedures.
- Safely assist patients with multiple medical lines, tubes, drains, and monitoring equipment while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Prepare, clean, inspect, and maintain patient treatment areas and therapy equipment in accordance with hospital infection prevention and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with therapists, therapist assistants, nursing staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to support efficient patient care and department workflow.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties accurately, including scheduling support, supply and equipment management, data entry, and other departmental operations.
- Assist department leadership with operational, quality improvement, and organizational projects as assigned.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

- Perform clerical and administrative duties (answering phones, copying, filing, stocking supplies, scheduling support, maintaining department records).
- Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and equipment tracking to keep the department operational.
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly and coordinate repairs or removal of unsafe equipment.
- Assist department leadership with operational initiatives, quality improvement activities, data collection, and other assigned departmental projects.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, therapists, nursing staff, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Respond flexibly to changing patient care priorities, staffing needs, and daily workflow in a fast‑paced acute care environment.

Working Conditions
- Hours of operation with shifts as assigned, including weekends, holidays, afternoons, evenings, and occasional overtime.
- Lunch and break periods must be coordinated with other staff to maintain adequate staffing during facility hours.
- Must be prepared to work in inclement weather if required.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in duty priority throughout the day.
- Must handle emergency and crisis situations.

Hazardous Exposure Category
