Job summary

River Crossing Rehab and Healthcare Center is seeking an Activity Assistant to help plan, implement, and evaluate recreational programs for residents in accordance with care plans. You will support daily activities, assist with crafts, visits, and errands, and promote residents' physical, social, and mental well-being.

Ideal candidates have experience in long-term care activities, a patient and cheerful demeanor, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department (preferred).
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs and identify equipment/supply needs.
• Clean up activity areas after programs.
• Follow the care plan to provide daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for residents.
• Oversee residents during activities to support physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Visit residents, write letters, run errands, and assist with crafts as needed.

The primary purpose of an Activity Assistant position is to assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisor.

Activities Assistant Duties Include:

• Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs. Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs of the activity department.
• Assist in cleaning up activity areas after completing activity functions.
• Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for resident.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for the residents.
• Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.
• Assists in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as necessary.

You will be great for our Activities team because you have:

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department - preferred.
• Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Can read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
