Job summary

River Crossing Rehab and Healthcare Center is seeking an Activity Assistant to support planning, execution, and evaluation of recreational and social programs for residents. The role assists with room preparation, supply management, and daily activities aligned with care plans.

Ideal candidates will have experience in long-term care activities, a patient and cheerful demeanor, strong English communication, and the flexibility to work with residents at different maturity levels.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department - preferred
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
• Ability to read, write, and understand English
• Willingness to adapt activities to residents with varying maturity levels

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating resident activities
• Prepare activity rooms and procure supplies as directed
• Help with daily activities and crafts for residents
• Support residents during scheduled programs to promote well-being
• Visit residents, write letters, run errands as needed
• Assist in-room residents with activities and social engagement

The primary purpose of an Activity Assistant position is to assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisor.

Activities Assistant Duties Include:

• Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs. Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs of the activity department.

• Assist in cleaning up activity areas after completing activity functions.

• Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for resident.

• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for the residents.

• Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.

• Assists in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as necessary.

You will be great for our Activities team because you have:

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department - preferred.

• Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

• Can read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
