Position Overview
Viva Senior Living is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Activities Assistant to join our team in Stafford, VA. The ideal candidate will assist in creating an engaging, home-like atmosphere by planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities that promote resident adjustment, healthy lifestyles, and social satisfaction. This role requires a warm, outgoing personality and the ability to adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of our residents.
Qualifications & Skills
- Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work well with peers in a congenial work environment.
- Maintain the utmost compassion and dignity toward residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and terms and conditions of employment as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain the highest standards in caring for and servicing the needs of residents and their family members or loved ones.
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
- In exigent circumstances, may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages).
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Assist with creating an engaging, home-like atmosphere by planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities in line with Viva Senior Living’s philosophies.
- Conduct a variety of activities for residents and their visiting family members or friends as directed by the Activity Director.
- Uphold resident morale by offering adequate and diversified engaging activities and ensuring sufficient supervision for each activity.
- Inform all residents of upcoming activities by referring to the schedule of events posted on the bulletin board.
- Distribute the daily activity schedule according to community protocol.
- Reach out to residents confined to their rooms and provide one-on-one entertainment options.
- Assist in planning outings to meet various resident needs.
- Accompany residents via bus to group events, activities, and houses of worship.
- Assist residents on and off the bus as necessary.
- Be innovative and creative to adapt to ever-changing day-to-day circumstances or situations.
- Adapt activities to keep residents interested and attentive.
- Maintain a lively, outgoing, inclusive, involved, and engaged persona.
- Maintain a current record of community services, resources, programs, and materials accessible to staff, residents, and residents’ families.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities deemed appropriate and/or necessary by the Activity Director and Executive Director.
- Comply with other duties as required by state regulations.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts assigned by the Executive Director or Supervisor.
