A healthcare facility in Long Beach seeks a PT Activities Assistant to plan and conduct activities for residents. Responsibilities include developing activity schedules, supporting communication between staff and families, and assisting with resident assessments. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and strong communication and reasoning skills.
PT Activities Assistant - Sunset Villa Post Acute (Healthcare)
Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities. Assist in providing effective communication between employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and best interests of residents, the community, and the facility. Participate in community planning related to the facility's interests and the needs of residents and their families. Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing plans to address quality deficiencies as directed by the Activities Director. Participate in discharge planning, and assist in developing and implementing activity care plans and resident assessments. Arrange transportation for residents as needed, including outings, appointments, or discharges.
Help develop a monthly activity schedule that includes outings, scheduled group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities such as hobbies, crafts, and reading, providing materials like Braille or audiobooks as appropriate. Assist with documentation, quarterly progress notes, and keep the Activity Department clean, organized, and secure.
Supervisory Requirements: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking frequently; sitting occasionally; reaching, pushing, pulling frequently; talking and hearing frequently; tasting and smelling frequently; lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; visual acuity for focus and depth perception.
