Job description

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) | Substance Use Disorder IOP and OP

Location: Utah

Program: Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Services

Schedule: Full Time or Part Time

Setting: In Office and In the Community

Aloha, and welcome.

We are One Love Agency, and we are looking for a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) to join our growing Substance Use Disorder IOP and OP program in Utah.

Before we tell you about the job, we want to tell you a little about us because if this is the right fit, we want you to feel it.

At One Love, we believe recovery happens through connection, consistency, accountability, and community.

We live by a Hawaiian word: hŋnā, to take in, to raise as your own.

That is how we approach the people we serve, and it is how we approach each other.

We work like a village. Therapists, SUD counselors, PSR specialists, peer support specialists, case managers, administrative staff, and community partners each carry a piece of the work.

What This Role Is

Recovery is about more than stopping substance use. It is also about rebuilding the skills, routines, relationships, and confidence needed to move forward in everyday life.

That is where psychosocial rehabilitation comes in.

As a PSR Specialist with One Love, you will work directly with adults participating in our SUD IOP and OP programs to help them develop and strengthen practical skills that support recovery and greater independence.

This is hands on, goal focused work. The goal isn't to do things for the people we serve. The goal is to help them build the skills and confidence to do more for themselves.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide individual and group psychosocial rehabilitative services connected to each client's treatment plan.
  • Teach, model, practice, cue, and reinforce practical skills that support recovery and everyday functioning.
  • Help clients strengthen coping, communication, problem solving, organizational, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
  • Support the development of healthy routines and recovery focused skills.
  • Help clients identify barriers to recovery and break larger goals into achievable steps.
  • Practice skills with clients in office and community settings when appropriate.
  • Support clients as they move through IOP, OP, and toward greater independence in the community.
  • Collaborate with therapists, SUD counselors, peer support specialists, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Recognize and promptly communicate relapse risks, safety concerns, or significant changes to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation showing the goal addressed, skill practiced, client response, progress, and next steps.
  • Participate in required supervision, training, and professional development.
What We’re Looking For

To provide Psychosocial Rehabilitative Services in Utah, candidates must meet an approved Utah Medicaid provider qualification pathway. This may include:

  • A Utah Licensed Social Service Worker (SSW).
  • An individual with a qualifying bachelor’s degree who is actively working toward Utah SSW licensure.
  • A qualified Utah Substance Use Disorder Counselor with an applicable Utah credential.
  • An appropriately trained individual who completes required Utah Medicaid PRS training and works under qualified supervision.

All PSR staff must work under the supervision required by their credential and applicable Utah Medicaid requirements. Individuals hired through the trained individual pathway must complete required PRS training within the applicable Utah Medicaid timeframe.

Candidates must also:

  • Have an understanding of substance use disorders, recovery, relapse prevention, and the barriers individuals may experience while rebuilding their lives.
  • Be able to teach and reinforce skills in a practical, patient, and encouraging way.
  • Have strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Maintain healthy professional boundaries and respect client choice and independence.
  • Be dependable and able to manage an assigned schedule and caseload.
  • Be able to complete timely and accurate electronic documentation.
  • Meet One Love credentialing, background screening, training, and applicable payer requirements.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for community based services as required.

Previous experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, psychosocial rehabilitation, skills development, case management, community based services, or human services is preferred.

What Matters at One Love
  • Clients. They are the reason we are here.
  • Compliance. Doing things the right way protects our clients, our team, and our ability to continue serving the community.
  • Community Partners. Recovery takes a village, and lasting recovery often requires connection far beyond the walls of treatment.

We are looking for someone who understands that recovery isn't built in one big moment.

It is built through small wins, new skills, healthier routines, accountability, and learning how to navigate life differently.

If you want to help people develop the skills and confidence necessary to build a life in recovery, we would love to meet you.

Come be part of the village. Come be part of One Love.
