The Psychometrician plans, coordinates and conducts the statistical work required for score reporting and data interpretation for multiple basic programs and/or segments of complex testing programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct the statistical work required for score reporting and data interpretation for multiple basic programs and/or segments of complex testing programs.
- Develop score interpretation materials and testing program publications. Conduct and report on complex research. Work independently on most phases of statistical analysis. May provide guidance to less experienced psychometricians.
- Complete statistical and research plans and review results for reasonableness and accuracy.
- Independently identify program, research and measurement-related problems and opportunities and their psychometric implications.
- Initiate discussions of the potential effects of changes in programs with appropriate staff; work to develop and implement long range goals and plans for programs.
- Assume primary responsibilities for designing, developing, and documenting technical and operating procedures and statistical guidelines for assigned programs.
- Prepare statistical reports for testing programs.
- Accountable for basic equating decisions; contribute to complex equating decisions.
- Participate in planning, testing, and implementing GENASYS; lead relevant aspects of the test creation process, such as item evaluation.
- May design, program, document, and implement medium-sized special purpose statistical and reporting systems.
Propose, design, execute, and report on medium and large research projects.
- Respond to requests for data and data interpretation from ETS officers, clients, and users.
- Conduct seminars on psychometric issues for staff, test committees, clients, and policy boards.
- Coach and mentor staff, as appropriate
- Serve as a resource to Clients (Internal and External)
- Participate in interviewing and training staff.
- Respond to requests for data and data interpretation from clients and users.
- Make professional contributions through publications, research reports, seminars, and participation in professional organizations.
- Contribute to research, development, and evaluation of new testing modes, item types, psychometric methods, and technology.
- Proactively work toward shorter cycle time, reduced costs, greater customer satisfaction, and quality maintenance.
- Participate in test creation teams.
- Identify process, product, and service improvements; areas for cost reduction; and ways to meet business goals.
- Responsible for assigned projects, including preparation of planning memorandum, monitoring expenses, delegating work, monitoring and reviewing work delegated, and coordination of work schedules and progress toward goals.

Education and Experience
- Doctoral Degree in Education Measurement, Quantitative Psychology, Statistics or a closely related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in educational measurement, quantitative psychology, engineering or (applied) statistics or teaching are required.

- The base salary range advertised represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The base pay is only one aspect of the Total Rewards Package that will be offered to the successful candidate.
