Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Psychometric Technician to join our Neuropsychology team in Springfield, Massachusetts. You will administer neuropsychological assessments, score and document results, and provide supportive care to patients throughout the evaluation process.

You will collaborate with neuropsychologists and clinical teams, participate in training learners, and help maintain testing resources and workflow in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in medical, psychiatric or educational setting.
• Bachelor's Degree required.

Baystate Health is seeking a Psychometric Technician to join our Neuropsychology team in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Neuropsychology team provides comprehensive neuropsychological assessment services for patients with a full range of psychiatric and neurologic disorders, working closely with neuropsychologists, patients, families, medical and psychiatric teams, and trainees to deliver accurate, supportive, and clinically meaningful evaluations.

The Psychometric Technician role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in standardized neuropsychological test administration, scoring, and documentation while providing compassionate support to patients throughout the evaluation process. The position also provides opportunities to collaborate with and learn from neuropsychologists and other clinical professionals, administer assessment, and participate in the training of students, residents, fellows, and other learners.

The Psychometric Technician Will:

• Administer neuropsychological assessments using standardized procedures and protocols appropriate to each patient’s age, clinical needs, and level of competency.
• Provide supportive patient care by orienting patients and families to the evaluation process, establishing rapport, setting appropriate expectations, and responding appropriately to patients with psychiatric and neurologic conditions.
• Conduct bedside testing for patients on medical and psychiatric inpatient units when needed.
• Document and score assessments accurately, including recording behavioral observations and using computer systems for test administration, scoring, and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with neuropsychologists and clinical teams, including identifying situations requiring urgent neuropsychologist involvement and communicating scheduling changes or patient concerns.
• Support clinical education and training by demonstrating neuropsychological testing procedures and presenting relevant cases to students, residents, fellows, neuropsychologists, and other trainees.
• Maintain testing resources and workflow, including ordering supplies, maintaining test equipment and protocol inventories, and promptly communicating appointment openings and no-shows.
• Maintain professional competency and compliance by participating in required training and in-services and adhering to department, system, and regulatory requirements.

• Hours: 8-hour shifts
• Other Scheduling Requirements: No holidays

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
