An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated psychologist to join their Sleep Disorders department. This role involves diagnosing and treating a variety of mental health conditions, with a focus on sleep-related issues. You will utilize evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia and work closely with fellows in training, providing lectures and hands-on training. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The psychologist diagnoses and treats mental, substance use, developmental and behavioral disorders and disabilities; assesses and establishes a level of care for patients; requests admission as needed; provides consultation; determines disability and decisional capacity; evaluates dangerousness and suicidality; provides supervision; and may contribute to clinical research protocols.
SPECIFIC CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PHD PSYCHOLOGIST IN SLEEP DISORDERS
*Treat patients with insomnia utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).
*Treat patients who are non-adherent with PAP treatment utilizing desensitization therapy due to anxiety or other disorders that can affect PAP compliance.
*Manage patients with circadian rhythm disorders.
*Train Sleep Medicine Fellows in behavioral treatments for sleep disorders in the clinic setting.
*Provide lectures to Sleep Medicine Fellows on various sleep disorder topics.
*To be able to get involved in clinical research activities as needed by the sleep medicine division.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1.PhD or PsyD in Psychology from an APA accredited program or from a graduate program approved by the American Psychological Association.
2.Licensed in the State of Michigan.
3.Skill and experience in providing clinical psychological services to patients with acute or chronic medical, mental health, substance use, and/or developmental problems.
4.Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the scientific methods used in psychology; the social, behavioral, developmental, and biological sources of normal and pathological behavior, psychopathology, behavior change, and psychotherapy.
5.Knowledge of state and federal laws and legal requirements.
6.Skilled in developing and presenting psychoeducational materials and in making group presentations preferred.
