Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) is a 134-bed state psychiatric hospital located in Northern Virginia, a suburb conveniently located near several public transportation routes and in close proximity to Washington, DC. Currently, nearly half of our population is forensically involved. We are seeking a licensed clinical psychologist or unlicensed psychology associate with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology to join our dynamic team. As a unit staff psychologist (or prior to licensure, a psychology associate) for individuals hospitalized with serious and persistent mental illness, the employee will provide a full range of psychological services, including the following:
Clinical supervision to meet licensure requirements is available. Training and supervision in forensic psychology (evaluation of competency to stand trial, provision of services to restore competency to stand trial, evaluation of mental status at time of offense, and evaluation and treatment of individuals acquitted by reason of insanity) will be provided.
