Job summary

Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking a Licensed Psychologist I for CHLA’s trauma psychology program. The role involves mental health evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents, and families, plus assessments as needed.

Teaching, staff meetings, and supervision of trainees are included. Preferred candidates have TF-CBT/PCIT training, experience supervising trainees, bilingual English/Spanish, and medical setting liaison experience.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Project Heal is CHLA’s trauma psychology program, working with children and families who have been referred for mental health services as a result of exposure to traumatic events. These events can include medical trauma, child abuse, exposure to family or community violence, or immigration trauma. The Licensed Psychologist I provides mental health evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents, and families in the department or division’s area of focus, offers psychological/developmental assessments as needed, and may provide individual and group supervision to pre‑ and postdoctoral psychology trainees. Teaching duties include didactic presentations, community presentations, and participation in staff/supervisor meetings at which teaching and training programs are developed.

Required

• Supervised professional experience providing therapy to a child, adolescent, and/or pediatric psychology population.

Preferred

• Previous consultation and liaison experience within a medical setting.
• Knowledge of the various psychosocial aspects of commonly referred medical conditions.
• Experience supervising trainees.
• Training in Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT) and Parent‑Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) with certification in these modalities.
• Experience conducting psychological and developmental assessments.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Education / Licensure / Certifications

Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D., in School, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology; prefer education from an APA‑accredited program. Licensed Psychologist in the State of California or license‑eligible where applicants must have completed their licensure by their anticipated start date. American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
