Job summary

Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI is seeking a psychologist to lead the Counseling Center's clinical services and student mental health initiatives. The role focuses on coordinated counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration with campus partners.

The psychologist will provide individual and group therapy, supervise interns, and help develop campus-wide mental health education programs while upholding legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed or license eligible in Rhode Island within one year of start date.
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA-approved program.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and consultation.
  • Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.
  • Experience in campus mental health education programs.
  • Pre-doctoral internship and/or post-doctoral fellowship in a university counseling center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students with personal, social, family, and related concerns.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards; respond to crisis situations as assigned.
  • Consult with family, faculty, staff, and administrators on Counseling Center matters.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate interns and post-doctoral fellows for licensure.
  • Coordinate with other departments and participate in outreach programs.
  • Coordinate Counseling Center efforts in specialized areas (e.g., diversity, substance use).
  • Be available for extended hours for outreach or emergencies when needed.
