A Brief Overview

Provides quality psychological evaluations, therapy, education, and consultation to children, families, and adults in Behavioral Health and clinics, agencies, physician offices, and the community. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with hospital staff, physicians, community agencies, and professionals. Provides professional presentations, interviews, and services to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation in the community.

Essential Functions
  • Provides psychological evaluations, therapy, and testing to children, families, and adults.
  • Provides services on inpatient units or clinics as assigned.
  • Completes intake assessments, consultations, and therapeutic sessions per week.
  • Performs evaluations, treatment planning, and treatment procedures appropriate to patient needs.
  • Adheres to ethical standards of the American Psychological Association.
  • Maintains documentation of intake information, testing, treatment plans, and contacts.
  • Completes progress notes within five days of client contact.
  • Prepares psychological reports within ten days of testing.
  • Completes intake summaries within two sessions, including diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Documents contact with teachers, attorneys, family members, and others within 5 days.
  • Responds promptly to phone calls and requests for information.
  • Provides on-call coverage in rotation with mental health staff.
  • Responds within 10 minutes to pages and presents at the hospital within 30 minutes for evaluations.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, and departmental events.
  • Ensures maximum reimbursement for services and provides super bills immediately following sessions.
  • Obtains insurance authorizations and notifications as needed.
  • Participates in community and hospital committees and provides professional presentations.
  • Provides supervision or training to staff and students as requested.
  • May participate in transplant program functions based on departmental needs.
  • Maintains regular attendance at work.
Qualifications
  • PhD or Psy.D. from an accredited school of psychology (Required)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Psychologist in behavioral health or pediatric setting (Preferred)
  • Completion of a 1-year APA-accredited internship (Required)
  • Current and valid licensure as a psychologist in Nebraska or eligibility (Required)
  • Knowledge of psychological principles, child and adolescent development, and behavior modification techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to focus and pay close attention to detail.
  • Willingness to provide on-call services at odd hours.
  • Knowledge and skill in providing age-appropriate care.
