Job Title: Psychiatrist

Location: Toledo, OH 43614

Duration: 3 months to long-term

Shift: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Client/facility: State of Ohio/ Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital

Job Responsibilities:

1. Evaluates, examines, analyzes, diagnoses, and treats consumers, prescribes medication, and performs in-depth psychotherapy and counseling (e.g., psychoanalysis, behavior modification).
2. Monitors and coordinates professional and paraprofessional medical, nursing, and direct care staff in areas related to psychiatric care.
3. Reviews consumer records for accuracy and completeness; recommends improvements in hospital staffing and organization.
4. Conducts and participates in lectures and seminars in psychiatry or related fields for professional and paraprofessional healthcare staff.

Major Worker Characteristics:

• Knowledge of medicine, psychology, sociology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Skill in administering medication.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Interpretation of extensive technical material from books, journals, and manuals.
• Deal with many variables and determine specific courses of action.
• Handle sensitive contacts with persons under medical care.
