Position Summary

Provide consulting psychiatric diagnostic and treatment services to adult patients attending START’s clinical programs.

Essential Functions

• Perform initial assessment and diagnostic evaluation for all patients referred to for psychiatric services.
• Conduct needs assessment for medication management and teletherapy as permissible by New York State regulations.
• Monitor patient progress, treatment outcomes and recommend changes to treatment plan.
• Maintain appropriate treatment records according to established procedures.
• Provide psychiatric referral or specialized treatments including hospitalization and outpatient treatment care.
• Meet with behavioral health, nursing, and medical staff on a weekly basis to provide case consultations.
• Participate in appropriate educational programs and training of all staff.
• Participate as a member in one of the following management committees: Continuous Quality Improvement, Compliance, Incident Review, or Health and Safety.
• Assist management in the development of policies and procedures to advance the mental health of patients and staff
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State licensure and Board Certification in Psychiatry.
• Current Board Certification in Addiction Psychiatry
• Graduate from a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.
• Three years’ experience in direct care is preferred.
• Specific training or experience in the treatment of multi and polydrug abusers including alcoholics.
• Current Registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration and waiver for prescribing buprenorphine.
