Job summary

Maricopa County Correctional Health Services seeks a Psychiatrist to provide critical mental health care to justice-involved individuals within the county system. Lead psychopharmacological treatment and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver integrated care in a correctional setting.

The position offers flexible scheduling, including 4x10 or 5x8 shifts, with start times based on business needs, and opportunities for growth, CME support, and retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
• Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD, DO).
• Completed accredited Residency Program in Psychiatry.
• Current license as a Psychiatrist in the State of Arizona issued by the State of Arizona Medical Board.
• Experience with incarcerated individuals and institutional environments is valued.
• Clozapine REMS certification and Suboxone waiver are valued.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new admissions to diagnose and treat identified mental illness.
• Re-evaluate patients under care to refine diagnosis and treatment as indicated.
• Prescribe medications following the CHS Pharmacy Formulary.
• Document evaluation, treatment, and other patient interactions clearly and in compliance with licensure and accreditation requirements.
• Participate in management of patients requiring involuntary treatment, including court-ordered evaluations and Medication Review Board activities.
• Collaborate with the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Treatment team and Forensic Team on treatment plans.
• Contribute to development of psychiatric protocols and clinical practice guidelines for correctional care.
• Maintain licensure, certifications, and credentialing as indicated.
