Job description

Rogers Behavioral Health is a not-for-profit behavioral health system with a long history. For over 100 years, we have been providing top-quality psychiatric services and conducting cutting-edge research. We are one of the leading healthcare providers in our field. RBH offers a range of services for adults, children, and adolescents, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care. Our primary hospitals are located in Wisconsin, with numerous clinics across Wisconsin and nine other states, including California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington.

In this role, the physician will serve as a team leader within our patient care model, which is based on a multi-faceted treatment team methodology. Physicians may work across various levels of care, in both live and virtual environments, and support patient admissions, protocol development, quality assurance, and peer review evaluations. They will collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, oversee residents and fellows during their rotations, and participate in multidisciplinary team activities.

Services:
  1. Attend Patients at the Site:
    • Attend to patients and assist with coverage at assigned locations, which may include multiple sites and levels of care, including virtual services within licensure scope.
    • Conduct medication management sessions, psychiatric evaluations, assessments, history and physical examinations.
    • Create and update treatment plans, provide patient and family education, and participate in team meetings.
    • Develop discharge plans, oversee medical residents and fellows, and participate in the call schedule.
    • Complete all charting and documentation within 24 hours, serve as attending physician, and round on patients as needed.
    • Handle emergency detentions, provide medication education, and participate in treatment team inservices.
    • Meet productivity standards and ensure documentation compliance.
    • Attend Medical Staff meetings and the Medical Staff Executive Committee meetings.
  2. Payor Relations:
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with contracted payors.
    • Review service denials, coordinate care with referring providers, and market the organization as appropriate.
    • Review admissions and ensure policy compliance with EMTALA.
  3. Advocate:
    • Support organizational initiatives, participate in quality improvement activities, and contribute to community education on behavioral health issues.
  4. Admissions Support:
    • Provide initial placement recommendations based on clinical criteria.
    • Evaluate admission screenings, communicate professionally, and coordinate with other departments and agencies.
    • Develop relationships with medical staff for ongoing case review.
Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution ability, and initiative.
  • Ability to relate to people, be flexible, and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Strong verbal, auditory, written, and numerical skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting up to 20 pounds, and perform inside the building with light physical activity.
  • Must pass a physical exam to verify capability to perform job duties.
Education/Training Requirements:
  • Licensed in Minnesota as an MD or DO with psychiatry specialization, board-eligible or certified.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school with residency and/or fellowship, especially for working with children.
  • At least two years of experience in a psychiatric hospital or clinic.
  • Registered with Medicare or able to register as a community provider.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in process improvement is a plus.
Pay Transparency:
  • Salary range: $278,446 – $313,678, with variation based on experience and specialization.
  • Additional RVU bonus rate: $66 – $77 per RVU, depending on specialization.
