Responsibilities

  • Oversees the quality of care delivered to patients.
  • Assesses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborates on admissions.
  • Performs psychiatric assessments for patients under care.
  • Completes documentation for civil commitment cases.
  • Provides individual and family therapy and medication management as needed.
  • Requests consultations when indicated and provides psychiatric consultation when needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA standards.
  • Completes all documentation within required timeframes.
  • Leads the multidisciplinary treatment team and participates in staffing.
  • Ensures proper medication administration and documentation for meds.
  • Complies with seclusion and restraint policies and responds to orders.
  • Ensures adequate coverage when away from the facility.
  • Participates in PI activities and hospital committees.
  • Documents to ensure accurate reimbursement for services.
  • Complies with medical staff bylaws and facility policies.
  • Maintains professional behavior at all times.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY
  1. Oversees the quality of care delivered to his/her patients.
  2. Assesses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborates with Assessment and Referral regarding potential admissions.
  3. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care.
  4. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statues.
  5. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and or medication management as needed for patients under his/her care.
  6. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated.
  7. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested.
  8. Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA standards.
  9. Completes all documentation requirements legibly and within timeframes established by Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
  10. Leads the multidisciplinary treatment team and participates collaboratively in scheduled staffing regarding the treatment of his/her patients.
  11. Demonstrates appropriate medication administration and ensures that documentation regarding medications complies with facility and regulatory standards.
  12. Complies with all seclusion and restraint requirements including responding to the facility within one hour when contacted for seclusion and restraint orders.
  13. Ensures that cases are adequately covered when away from the facility.
  14. Participates in ongoing PI activities and hospital committees as assigned.
  15. Completes necessary documentation to ensure accurate reimbursement for services provided.
  16. Complies with all medical staff bylaws and medical staff rules and regulations.
  17. Complies with all facility policies and procedures.
  18. Maintains professional behaviors at all times.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school; completed residency in psychiatry, board certification preferred.

Licensure: Licensed as a medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) in the state of Pennsylvania.
