Job summary

Northern Nevada HOPES is seeking a psychiatrist to join our Behavioral Health Department in Reno. The role focuses on patient-centered assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management within a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates hold an MD or DO with Nevada licensure, board certification or eligibility, and excellent communication skills. The position supports professional growth in a mission-driven community health setting.

Qualifications

• Active medical license in the State of Nevada and board-certified or board-eligible.
• Physician to hold an MD or DO degree with appropriate licensure.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess biopsychosocial factors and make psychiatric diagnoses.
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans and med management.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary Behavioral Health team and other providers.
• Provide psychotherapy interventions as needed per agency needs and interest.

Our psychiatrist is a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine specializing in mental health who provides high-quality, patient-centered assessment and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.

A psychiatrist at HOPES functions as an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team within the Behavioral Health Department. Psychiatrists conduct biopsychosocial assessments, make diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and conduct medication management. They consult with other behavioral health providers, medical providers, support staff, and paraprofessionals to support HOPES’ whole-person, integrated approach to patient care. They may conduct psychotherapeutic interventions based on interest and agency need.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active medical license in the State of Nevada and boardcertified or boardeligible required.
• Consideration given for Physicians qualifying for Interstate Medical Licensure Compact [Info Link: https://imlcc.com/informationforphysicians/#DoIQualifyForCompactLicensure]
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written required.
• Valid BLS required prior to hire, per HRSA compliance.
• Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPES’ policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES.
