Job summary

Cornell Scott–Hill Health Center is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric consultation across Fairfield CT sites. You will review treatment plans, perform evaluations, and supervise staff while ensuring high-quality care for the client population.

The role requires CT licensure, Board certification or eligibility, CPR, and a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Travel within Connecticut is required.

About the Role

We are seeking a Psychiatrist who will maintain responsibility for psychiatric consultation across the assigned BHD site(s).

Key Responsibilities

• Review clinical aspects of ongoing Behavioral Health programs working cooperatively with the Medical Director.
• Maintain and provide a model for psychiatric standards of practice and quality of care.
• Review treatment plans and treatment plan reviews for appropriate/effective quality care.
• Perform evaluations, crisis intervention, individual, group, family therapy and/or medication management as needed to meet the needs of the client population and the clinic.
• Utilize a range of clinical interventions appropriate to the population while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
• Assist with emergencies to protect the safety of the client and the safety of the staff.
• Appropriately document all clinical and administrative work.
• Meet productivity standards.
• Evaluate data relating to the bio‑psychosocial consequences of physical and emotional illness, disability and/or substance abuse.
• Maintain telephone, page, email accessibility as needed; cover for colleagues as needed.
• Supervise APRN’s/clinical staff assigned by the Medical Director.
• Participate in team meetings and consultations as directed by the Medical Director and/or Program Director.
• Provide education and consultation to staff regarding psychopharmacology, psychiatric assessment, special populations and other relevant topics as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with clinic staff, other HHC departments, medical staff, and community agencies, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Demonstrate competency in standards of psychiatric care.
• Exhibit conscientious work ethic, professionalism and accountability.
• Provide assistance during periods of agency need and accept new assignments.
• Participate in Peer Review.

Required Qualifications

• Education: M.D., licensed in the State of Connecticut to provide psychiatric services; Board certified or eligible. CPR certified.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the assigned population; experience may include internship, residency or fellowship.

Knowledge/Abilities

• Knowledge and competency regarding diagnosis, assessment and treatment of behavioral health services.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to generate high levels of client satisfaction.
• Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team.
• Must demonstrate age‑specific/population‑specific competencies in areas of practice.
• Knowledge and skills related to individual, group and family system dynamics.
• Must demonstrate cultural competence.

Travel

Travel within the State of Connecticut is required on an occasional basis.
