Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking a compassionate Psychiatrist to deliver in-person psychiatric services across several Delaware Mental Health Group Homes. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide person-centered care to adults with serious mental illness and contribute to statewide program quality.

The role emphasizes collaboration, continuity of care, and adherence to regulatory standards while supporting residents in living meaningful lives.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Psychiatry or residency completion with prescribing privileges in Delaware.
• Minimum of three years of experience with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness.
• Minimum of three years of outpatient psychiatric experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person psychiatric services across multiple residential locations in Delaware.
• Perform psychiatric evaluations and medication assessments.
• Manage medications and ongoing psychiatric treatment.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies in person or by telephone as needed.
• Order, review, and interpret medications and lab tests.
• Complete timely documentation including progress notes and assessments.
• Collaborate with treatment teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Support licensing standards and organizational values.

What You'll Do

As a Psychiatrist, you will:

• Provide in-person psychiatric services across approximately 8-12 Mental Health Group Homes throughout Delaware.
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication assessments.
• Provide medication management and ongoing psychiatric treatment.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies in person or by telephone as needed.
• Order, review, and interpret medications and laboratory testing.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation, including progress notes and psychiatric assessments.
• Review and update treatment plans, summaries, evaluations, and other required clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with treatment teams, community providers, and support agencies to ensure continuity of care.
• Support compliance with licensing standards, best practices, and organizational values.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO with Board Certification in Psychiatry, or completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency with prescribing privileges in the State of Delaware.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness.
• Minimum of three (3) years of outpatient psychiatric experience.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Delaware to provide services at multiple residential locations.

Preferred

• Experience providing psychiatric care in residential or community-based behavioral health settings.
• Experience working with adults receiving intensive behavioral health services.

Schedule

• Hourly Position
• In-Person Services Required
• Supports approximately 8-12 Mental Health Group Homes statewide
• Regular travel between assigned locations throughout Delaware
• Flexible scheduling available based on program needs
• Occasional evening, weekend, or emergency consultation coverage may be required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb stairs as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to travel regularly between multiple program locations.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
