Compensation

$241,363.20 - $294,037.12 Annually


25% ADDITIONAL PAY
Psychiatrists who occupy a position in Custody Services (Adult and Juvenile) receive an additional twenty five percent (25%) in addition to the annual compensation range.

Psychiatrist Positions for a Large Public Health and Hospital System in Silicon Valley

Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System (SCVHHS), a public healthcare system in the heart of Silicon Valley owned by the County of Santa Clara and affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is expanding services and has immediate openings for board eligible or certified attending psychiatrists and PGY-IVs in a variety of clinical settings, including:

  • Medical Director of Acute Psychiatry and Department Chair
  • Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS)
  • Inpatient Consultation Liaison services
  • Jail/Custody Health Inpatient services
  • Specialty Mental Health Outpatient services
  • Primary Care Behavioral Health services
  • Opportunities for additional moonlighting for PGY IV

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from a recognized school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
  • Possession of a valid certificate or eligible for certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • -OR- Certificate of graduation from an American Psychiatric Association approved residency in psychiatry.
  • -AND- Sufficient experience in a clinical, consultative, or a teaching setting which demonstrates a thorough understanding of psychiatric assessment, medical procedures and requirements and a broad understanding of a wide variety of mental health needs and services.

Experience note: This employment standard normally represents three years of clinical consultative or teaching experience in a psychiatric setting.

Knowledge of:

  • The principle of supervision;
  • Medication management;
  • The current principles and methods of diagnosing and treating mental disorders, contraindications and adverse reactions to common psychiatric medications;
  • The function and use of support treatment staff;
  • The preventive aspects of mental illness including consultation and education techniques.

Ability to:

  • Medically supervise and evaluate professional competence of assigned staff;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff;
  • Diagnose a full range of illnesses common to the population served and to prescribe and administer treatment;
  • Maintain the confidence and cooperation of patients.
