Job summary

TriCities Hospital is seeking a Psychiatric Unit Registered Nurse (RN) PRN to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative environment. The RN coordinates care with providers and the care team, aligning with nursing models to support recovery.

The role requires an active Virginia RN license (or compact license), BLS within 30 days, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 60 days. Prior psychiatric unit experience is preferred; comprehensive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.
• Current RN Virginia license or has a compact multistate license.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
• One year of experience required in Psychiatric unit.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery.
• Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface between healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient groups.
