Job summary

The role requires strong medical terminology, computer skills, and effective communication, with certifications such as SAMA and BLS preferred and weekend/holiday shifts expected.

The Tech demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness in daily practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• SAMA certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Psychiatric Technician I certification preferred.
• BLS from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
• One year related clinical experience preferred.
• Communication skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact).
• Analytical, Medical Terms and PC proficiency.
• Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays and Flexible.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Demonstrate personal and professional effectiveness and competence in medical and behavioral health terminology.
• Collaborate with charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient care and safety needs are met.
