Job summary

Decatur Morgan Hospital is seeking a Psych Tech II to assist in providing safe, therapeutic patient care under supervision across pediatric to geriatric age groups. You will help with daily activities, monitor vitals, and support the care team in a respectful, collaborative environment.

The role requires assisting with education sessions, documenting care, and maintaining certification in CPR and MOAB. A BS degree in psychology or social services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision participates in designated education sessions with patients across ages (pediatric to geriatric).
• Provides basic patient care within policies and plan of care.
• Motivates patients to participate in daily living activities and unit programs.
• Reports patient changes, problems, complaints or requests promptly.
• Responds to patient requests and provides needed assistance in a timely manner.
• Documents observations and care provided in a clear, concise manner.
• Checks/rechecks vital signs and notifies nurses of out-of-range values.
• Assists with dietary needs and adheres to ordered diets.
• Understands skin care and uses appropriate cleansing products.
• Collects specimens with proper labeling and identification.
• Follows directions of licensed personnel and maintains a safe environment.
• Maintains CPR and MOAB certifications.
