Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center seeks a Psychiatric Technician II to support the behavioral health unit under RN/Physician supervision. You will assist with crisis interventions, monitoring, safety rounds and patient transport, contributing to a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include identifying triggers, facilitating group activities, vital signs, escorting patients, and documenting care in collaboration with the treatment team.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 1-3 years training in restraints and seclusion, Montefiore Crisis Management, BLS, Phlebotomy, EKG, Blood Glucose.
• 1-3 years experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral health care in a high volume setting.
• OHS Annual Assessment and Fit Test requirements.
• Vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG and blood glucose monitoring training completed.

Responsibilities

• Identifies client factors that may trigger agitation and informs the treatment team.
• Maintains a safe environment through observation and alternative interventions.
• Rest/sleep support by maintaining quiet environment.
• Communicates clinical matters to RN or other staff as required.
• Escorts patients to locations on/off facility premises.
• Monitors patient and visitor flow and treatment activities.
• Performs care within Psychiatric Technician II scope, including group activities.
• Assists with activities of daily living and nutritional support as needed.
• Takes vital signs and reports variations to RN.
