Job Description

Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentioned emphasis on community-focused mental health care. This state-of-the-art campus, situated on 500 acres, includes two patient care buildings with 300 patients and a highly skilled staff of over 900. The hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

We invite applications for the position of PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN (DSA III). Currently hiring for 12-hour shifts: Day/Evening 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or Evening/Night 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

The Psychiatric Technician (DSA III) reports directly to the LPN, RN I, RN II, RN MGR I, or AOD Administrator, providing direct care to patients with mental disorders and/or intellectual disabilities in an assigned forensic unit. The role supports active treatment plans for patients with challenging mental health, behavioral issues, and forensic populations, working with individuals in specific units such as jail transfers.

This position requires working different shifts and/or overtime as needed. Multiple positions will be filled from this posting.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license or must be able to obtain within 60 days of employment.

Additional Considerations

• Experience working directly with individuals with challenging mental health and behavior issues in a public, residential, or psychiatric hospital is preferred.
