Hours: Part Time 24 hrs/week
Shift: 12 hr Day 7a-7p

UC Health is hiring a part-time psychiatric technician for the 5 Ridgeway Psychiatry unit at UC Medical Center.

This is a 20-bed unit providing inpatient psychiatric treatment for adult patients aged 18 and older.

Unit Details

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School diploma/GED. Preferred: Relevant college coursework.
  • STNA certification preferred or college-level coursework in nursing, psychiatry, or social work.
  • Minimum: Six months of direct patient care experience in a psychiatric setting or equivalent college coursework in nursing, psychology, or social work.
  • Preferred: Specialized training in phlebotomy, vital signs, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Hours: Part Time 24 hrs/week

Shift: 12 hr Day

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a therapeutic milieu and a safe environment for psychiatric patients, collaborating with the healthcare team.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, involving them in care planning.
  • Identify physical limitations and intervene when necessary.
  • Recognize and respond to behavioral health issues and signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Assist with treatments, medication administration, and operating equipment safely.
  • Monitor safety, manage patient behavior, and prepare the environment for new admissions.
  • Perform clinical duties as directed, including vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, assistance with activities of daily living, and inventory management.
  • Lead treatment groups and organize recreational activities, observing and reporting behavioral changes.
  • Implement basic psychiatric interventions and provide emotional support, including crisis management.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and staff meetings.
  • Transport patients to medical appointments as needed.
