Job summary

NORMA ROY LIVING in Oakland seeks a Psychiatric Technician to provide direct care, behavioral support, and daily living assistance in a supportive living environment. The role partners with a multidisciplinary team to promote safety, recovery, and quality of life per person-centered plans.

The position requires an active CA RPT license, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong observation and communication skills to effectively support clients with IDD and mental health needs.

Qualifications

• Active California Registered Psychiatric Technician (RPT) license in good standing.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience working with individuals with IDD, mental illness, or co-occurring conditions preferred.
• Strong observational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and behavioral support to clients in accordance with individualized treatment and behavior support plans.
• Monitor and document client behavior, mood, and physical condition, and report significant changes to the supervising behaviorist or Health Director.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and community participation.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and structured living environment consistent with client needs and regulatory requirements.
• Implement behavioral intervention strategies as directed by the supervising behaviorist.
• Accurately complete required documentation, including T-Logs, incident reports, and medication-related records.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, care conferences, and required training.
• Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and organizational policies, including HIPAA and client rights regulations.

Position Summary

The Psychiatric Technician provides direct care, behavioral support, and daily living assistance to individuals with mental illness, emotional disorders, and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a supportive living environment. The Psych Tech works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote client safety, recovery, and quality of life in alignment with each individual’s person-centered plan.
