Job summary

Harris Health System in Houston seeks a Psychiatric Technician II to support care for patients with mental or behavioral health needs under RN supervision. You will work closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient care and safety is maintained, demonstrating professional effectiveness and strong medical terminology usage.

The role requires two years of related clinical experience in behavioral health, SAMA certification, Psychiatric Technician I certification, and Basic Life

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training for the specialty area may be required.
• SAMA certification required; Psychiatric Technician I certification required and maintained as appropriate.
• Basic Life Support from an AHA-approved program.
• Two years of related clinical experience in behavioral health.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months of hire.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service.

Responsibilities

• Supports care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care and safety needs are met.
• Demonstrates and models personal and professional effectiveness.
