Job summary

TCH Medical Center is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to support patient safety for those at risk of harm, under supervision of the RN and Behavioral Health Team. The role covers night shifts (11pm–7am) and emphasizes Family Centered Care in a cost-effective, age-appropriate approach.

Responsibilities include direct patient observation, maintaining constant patient presence, monitoring for at-risk behavior, and assisting in implementing individualized care plans with the health care team.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of Behavioral Health experience in inpatient or outpatient setting.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Respiratory fit testing will be required per health standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct continual observation of patients requiring special precautions to ensure a safe environment.
• Remain with the assigned patient at all times during their shift.
• Monitor for at-risk behavior and maintain safety.
• Assist the nurse in creating a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Support implementation of individualized patient care plans.
• Promote healthy coping through verbal support and behavior plans.

We are searching for a Psychiatric Technician— someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will ensure the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and Behavioral Health Support Team. Care will be delivered incorporating Family Centered Care in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age-appropriate for the patient population.

We have the following shifts available:

Nights 11p-7a (full time available)

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED Required
• 1 Year experience with Behavioral Health in an inpatient or outpatient setting required
• BLS Certification (American Heart Associate Only) required
• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or other related degree preferred
• Pediatric Behavioral Health experience preferred
• Crisis Prevention certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist the patient care team through observation and communication about patients’ status
