Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant III at Austin State Hospital to provide complex nursing care under RN supervision in an inpatient setting. You will support recovery goals, perform nursing tasks with safety, and participate in team-based care.

The role involves evening shifts with potential additional shifts; telework is not available. Requires 2+ years of direct care, including psychiatric experience, and CPR certification or ability to obtain

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years’ work experience.
• One year of psychiatric patient experience or direct care required.
• Two years of patient experience or direct care preferred.
• CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of an RN in an inpatient setting.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with medications under nursing supervision.
• Promote safety and de-escalation and participate in recovery team activities.
