JOB TITLE:

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide psychiatric and mental health servicesto clinic patients at UW Family Medicine Clinic located inCheyenne, Wyoming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assessment and management of health and illness states. To dothis, the clinician obtains and documents a relevant healthhistory, performs a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, anddiagnoses psychiatric disorders. The clinician then develops atreatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disordersbased on biopsychosocial theories, evidence-based standards ofcare, and practice guidelines. Psychotropic and related medicationsare prescribed based on clinical indicators of a patient's status,including results of diagnostic and lab tests as appropriate, totreat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functionalhealth status.
• Coordinate referrals and ongoing access to primary and otherhealth care services for patients.
• Provide consultation to and seek consultation from other healthcare clinicians to enhance quality and cost effective services forpatients.
• Maintain patient's electronic medical record and accuratelydocument each patient encounter.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

• Participate in medical staff meetings; maintenance andpromotion of accreditation standards; guidance to support staff;collaborate with colleagues to provide integrated health within theclinic structure.

WORK LOCATION:

This position provides vital support to clinic patients andrequires the successful candidate be available to work onsite atthe UW Family Medicine Clinic located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UnitedStates. Sponsorship for H1-B work authorization or work visa is notavailable for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• EDUCATION: Master's degree in Nursing
• EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years direct clinic care to personsreceiving treatment for psychiatric disorders preferred
• LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, OR OTHERREQUIREMENTS:
  • National certification in degree specialty (AANP or ANCC).
  • RN with APRN Recognition
  • State of Wyoming Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner License, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • DEA Registration
  • WY Controlled Substance Registration, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Valid CPR certification (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven ability to provide psychiatric care across the lifespan,including both pediatric/adolescent and adult populations.
• Experience delivering behavioral health services viatelemedicine platforms.
• Competence in prescribing and managing psychotropicmedications, including monitoring for potential side effects andinteractions.
• Skilled in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations anddeveloping individualized treatment plans for common mental healthconditions.
• Experience in treating individuals with substance usedisorders, including opioid dependency.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communicationskills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinaryteam and coordinate care with primary care providers.
