Job description

Curry Health Center (CHC) is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric care to students within the University of Montana community. The practitioner will work collaboratively with the CHC treatment team to:

  • Conduct patient assessments and diagnoses
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Prescribe medications
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests
  • Provide patient education
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Refer patients for emergency safety evaluation and inpatient care when necessary

All activities must adhere to Montana state statutes and regulations, as well as UM and CHC protocols. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of the Medical Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Licensed to practice in Montana by the date of hire.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the following areas:
    • Psychiatric Assessment: Conducting intake psychiatric history, psychological observations, and reviewing past psychiatric management. Generating DSM-5 diagnoses and treatment plans.
    • Pharmacotherapy: Prescribing medications for psychiatric conditions and coordinating treatment with CHC and community providers.
    • Consultation: Assisting CHC staff in managing psychiatric needs that do not require formal psychiatric treatment. May also provide in-service training for CHC providers.
    • Record Keeping: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), including electronic prescribing.

  • Recent experience providing care for college-age patients.
  • Commitment to a collaborative healthcare team for optimal treatment outcomes.
  • A dedication to delivering high-quality, accessible, and effective student healthcare.

Position Number: 112420

Compensation Title: Mid-Level Provider

Work Schedule: Part-time, 0.6 FTE (24 Hours a week), Tuesday required, other days flexible, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year, works reduced hours during academic breaks and summers.

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
