Job description

Curry Health Center is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality patient care, assisting with dental procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and manual dexterity are essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the dentist during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient charts by recording health histories, medications, and treatment details.
  • Take and process dental X-rays using proper techniques for PA, bitewing, and panoramic (Panelipse) images.
  • Set up and sterilize instruments, equipment, and treatment areas following proper infection control protocols.
  • Educate patients on basic oral health, dental procedures, and post-treatment care as directed.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage records using an electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including reception duties and handling a multi-line phone system.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow by effectively managing time, schedules, and availability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of dental assisting experience or completion of a certified dental assisting program.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, and procedures, with the ability to assist in various treatments.
  • Experience with dental X-ray equipment, including chairside cones and panoramic (Panelipse) machinery.
  • Proficiency in taking, processing, and managing digital X-rays and EHR records.
  • Ability to operate and maintain sterilization devices such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to manage patient flow efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with computerized patient scheduling and record-keeping systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain basic dental concepts to patients in a clear and respectful manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and foster positive relationships in a clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • X-ray Certification.

Position Number: 112890

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, 12 months/year.
