Sagent Behavioral Health is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Savage, MN. The role is in-person, full-time at 0.8–1.0 FTE, offering a stable organization with a long-standing Midwest presence and a supportive work culture.

The NP will diagnose, treat, and manage care for adults, developing personalized treatment plans and prescribing medications as needed, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in Psychiatric Nursing; active MN license to practice.
• Must meet MN Statute 245I.04.02 Mental Health Professional Qualifications.
• PMHNP certification recognized by nursing board.
• Minimum 1–2+ years as an APRN.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders.
• Conduct comprehensive history, physicals, and follow-ups with patients.
• Develop individualized treatment plans combining therapy, medications, and lifestyle changes.
• Prescribe and manage medications; monitor effectiveness and side effects.
• Educate patients on medication management, adherence, and long-term considerations.
• Provide immediate support during acute psychiatric crises (suicidal ideation, violence, distress).
• Participate in case reviews, MDT meetings, and clinical supervision.
• Foster a patient-centered, empathetic therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse disorders.
• Conduct complete history and physical assessments and follow up appointments.
• Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes.
• Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring their effectiveness and potential side effects.
• Educate patients on medication management, including the importance of consistency, side effect management, and potential long-term impacts.
• Offer immediate support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, violent tendencies, or severe distress.
• Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical supervision.
• Ensure a patient-centered approach by fostering a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment.

Requirements

• Master\'s or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric Nursing from an accredited college or university; active and unrestricted State of Minnesota License to practice medicine.
• Must meet Mental Health Professional Qualifications as per MN State Statute 245I.04.02.
• Must have a mental health certification (PMHNP) recognized by the board of nursing.
• Minimum 1-2+ years\' experience practicing as an APRN is required.
• Strong diagnostic and assessment skills, with In-depth knowledge of the DSM-5 and the ability to evaluate complex psychiatric conditions and provide accurate diagnoses.
• Knowledge of both pharmacological treatments and psychotherapeutic techniques.
• Understanding of medication management protocols, including how to monitor for effectiveness, adjust dosages, and manage side effects or adverse reactions.
• Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Suite and using electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Compensation

• This is an exempt position. Total earnings for this position will range from $130,000 -176,000 annually.
• Actual compensation may be determined by various factors such as licensure, experience, skillset, internal equity, schedule and/or location. Estimates are factored on a 1.0 FTE.
• Employees in these positions are W2.
