Job summary

Sagent Behavioral Health is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Savage, MN for an in-person, full-time role (.8–1.0 FTE). The NP must hold a MN license, be PMHNP-certified, and have 1–2+ years of APRN experience.

Expect diagnostic authority, comprehensive treatment planning, and collaboration with a large behavioral health network. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $176,000 annually with W-2 employment; benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO, and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Psychiatric Nursing; active MN license.
  • PMHNP certification recognized by nursing board.
  • 1–2+ years APRN experience required.
  • Strong DSM-5 knowledge; ability to diagnose complex conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, substance use).
  • Conduct histories, physicals, and follow-up visits.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with therapy, meds, and lifestyle changes.
  • Prescribe and manage medications; monitor effectiveness and side effects.
  • Educate patients on medication management and adherence.
  • Provide crisis support for acute psychiatric events (SI, aggression, distress).
  • Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary supervision.
  • Maintain patient-centered, empathetic therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse disorders.
  • Conduct complete history and physical assessments and follow‑up appointments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring their effectiveness and potential side effects.
  • Educate patients on medication management, including the importance of consistency, side‑effect management, and potential long‑term impacts.
  • Offer immediate support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, violent tendencies, or severe distress.
  • Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical supervision.
  • Ensure a patient‑centered approach by fostering a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment.
Requirements
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric Nursing from an accredited college or university; active and unrestricted State of Minnesota License to practice medicine.
  • Must meet Mental Health Professional Qualifications as per MN State Statute 245I.04.02.
  • Must have a mental health certification (PMHNP) recognized by the board of nursing.
  • Minimum 1‑2+ years’ experience practicing as an APRN is required.
  • Strong diagnostic and assessment skills, with in‑depth knowledge of the DSM‑5 and the ability to evaluate complex psychiatric conditions and provide accurate diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of both pharmacological treatments and psychotherapeutic techniques.
  • Understanding of medication management protocols, including how to monitor for effectiveness, adjust dosages, and manage side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Suite and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Compensation

This is an exempt position. Total earnings for this position will range from $130,000 to $176,000 annually. Actual compensation may be determined by various factors such as licensure, experience, skill set, internal equity, schedule and/or location. Estimates are factored on a 1.0 FTE.
