Job summary

Community Health Center of Buffalo Inc. in Buffalo, NY seeks a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join its behavioral health team. The NP will assess, diagnose, and treat patients, collaborate with staff, and participate in quality improvement and education activities.

The role requires NY licensure, DEA registration, a master's degree in nursing, and national certification in the specialty, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient education.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted New York State license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Current DEA Registration number to prescribe controlled substances.
• Master of Science degree in Nursing.
• National certification in specialty area.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical direction to clinical staff, including Social Workers, Case Managers, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Medical Assistants.
• Adhere to all clinical policies and procedures, including infection control principles and confidentiality.
• Assess psycho-social health status through medical history and physical examination.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests.
• Triage, diagnose, and treat illness and behavioral health conditions within the specialty area of practice.
• Function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Prescribe medication, provide preventive health maintenance, and education.
• Teach and counsel patients, families, and groups.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Comply with regulatory guidelines and collaborating physician requirements.
• Direct, instruct, and evaluate nurse practitioner students.
• Attend meetings and perform other relevant duties as assigned.
