Essentials Functions
  • Assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute episodic and chronic illnesses and patient health, and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services. Exercises autonomy in medical decision making. Ensures informed consent is properly secured and documented.
  • Communicates with other professionals (i.e. counselor and PCP) working with patients.
  • Attends clinical team meetings.
  • Provides clinical consultation for staff and clinical interns/externs.
  • Provides training to medical students, pediatric residents, clinical interns/externs, and staff.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing
  • Experience: Current national certification from AANPNCB or other national certifying body (requires 18 months under a NP mentor before becoming certified) is required.
  • Supervisory Experience: n/a
  • Certification/Licensure: Current Maryland license in good standing issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing to practice as a nurse practitioner or appropriate federal district licensure where research is conducted.
  • Licensed with specific patient population and/or specialty area of practice is required.
  • Other: Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Thorough knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to support the Care Clinic's mission.
