Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive psychiatric care and leadership across a diverse patient population. You will prescribe medications, perform assessments, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to improve behavioral health outcomes.

Qualifications include PMHNP certification, an active nursing license, and experience with DSM-5 and complex cases.

Qualifications

• Graduate or higher-level degree in nursing.
• Active, unrestricted license as a nurse practitioner (PMHNP).
• Specialized experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Ability to prescribe/manage psychotropic medications.
• Experience coordinating care and working with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations across lifespan.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications and tests.
• Manage psychiatric emergencies and coordinate levels of care.
• Develop and evaluate evidence-based, culturally responsive treatment plans.
• Provide psychiatric consultation to clinicians and teams.
• Maintain compliant psychiatric documentation and quality measures.
