Job summary

State of Louisiana's Elmhurst Louisiana Mental Health System (ELMHS) in Jackson, LA is seeking an LPN to deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care supervising staff and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will transcribe orders, administer meds, document care, educate patients, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

The position offers multiple pay levels by progression (LPN1–LPN3) with per-hour premiums and shift differentials; a vehicle license is required.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, temporary permit, or NLC/eNLC multi-state license.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe doctors' orders accurately and timely.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications and treatments as ordered.
• Document patient responses and provide patient teaching on medications.
• Maintain a clean, stocked medication room and verify medications from Pharmacy.
• Monitor patient status and report behaviors to RN supervisor.
• Provide reports for shift hand-off and participate in unit communications.
• Assist Medical Doctor as needed and ensure follow-up on orders.
• Supervise psychiatric aide staff and serve as a resource.
• Participate in staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
• Maintain a current, valid motor vehicle license.
