Job summary

Seaside Health System in Louisiana seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct and indirect nursing care for psychiatric patients with acute behavioral disorders. You will use the nursing process, document care, and collaborate with RNs, physicians and the care team.

You will report changes in patient condition to the Director of Nursing, and ensure medication administration follows the 6 rights with proper documentation; travel is not required.

Qualifications

• Education: degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Current Louisiana nursing license to practice.
• Minimum 1 year experience in medical-surgical or psychiatric settings.
• Strong therapeutic communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care to psychiatric patients.
• Report changes in inpatient condition to the Director of Nursing.
• Administer medications following the 6 rights and proper documentation.
• Document patient information accurately and maintain care plans.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Attend required trainings such as CPI, Restraint Training, CPR.
