Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX, is seeking a Nursing Assistant for Behavioral Health. You will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, ensuring a safe, clean environment and supporting patient comfort.

The role requires CPI training within 30 days, BLS/CPR, and good communication skills. Prior hospital experience is preferred and English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• High school/GED required.
• CPI training within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
• Prefer hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values and communicates them to others.
• Conducts a full client inventory in the Intake area and gives report to nurse and tech.
• Remains with client and does not leave unattended at any time.
• Identify contraband and dispose of it appropriately.
• Coordinate with nurse/family if home medications are brought.
• Orient patient and family to processes and unit routines.
• Assist on units between admissions and coordinate with Intake.
• Record admissions vital signs on the Nursing Assessment Form.
• Perform and record patient vital signs, intake and output and notify RN of changes.
• Provide general nursing care and assist with ADLs.
• Observe patients for behavioral changes and notify RN of any concerns.
• Assist with de-escalation and patient safety checks as scheduled.
• Attend care conferences and communicate with the Nurse Manager and physicians.
