Job summary

Valley Health System is hiring a Mental Health Associate in the Psychiatric department. Under the direction of nursing staff, you will assist in maintaining a therapeutic milieu, support patient safety checks, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care.

The role emphasizes de-escalation, patient advocacy, confidentiality, and participation in group activities to promote recovery and well-being for patients with emotional distress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Science or related field preferred, or five years of experience in psychiatric care preferred
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred
• BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) approved required

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining therapeutic milieu and safety checks per policy
• Under RN/LPN direction, provides care and treatment appropriate to patient age
• Demonstrates accountability, participates in groups, and supports staff in patient care

Education
