Psychiatric Assessment Specialist – LPHA

HRDI is seeking a Psychiatric Assessment Specialist – LPHA to conduct psychiatric assessments on clients who require crisis evaluations to determine the appropriate level of care in accordance with HRDI policies, procedures and protocols and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties
  • Ensure that 100% of the calls for evaluation of an individual are responded to onsite within one hour.
  • Completely document the evaluation prior to the department from the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure that the assessment includes the prescribed clinical evaluation of the individual.
  • Based on eligibility and clinical evaluation, determine the most appropriate and available level of care and secure authorization.
  • Ensure firm linkage of the individual with the authorized level of care.
  • Document the evaluation, recommendations and disposition outcome for the individual.
  • Complete a psychological assessment, including mental health exam, past and present psychiatric history, family history, substance abuse history, and suicide risk assessment.
  • Provide billable Medicaid services to all assigned clients.
  • Complete mental health assessments to identify client’s needs and recommend services.
  • As a member of an interdisciplinary team, develop comprehensive treatment plans within required timeframes.
  • Ensure participation of team members, the individual, guardian, family, and necessary professionals in the treatment process, unless the individual does not want family involvement.
  • Counsel family members to support clients, within confidentiality limits.
Qualifications
  • Must be an LCSW with at least two years of experience as a social worker, including crisis work in an emergency department.
  • Solid understanding of DSM‑IV‑TR criteria for diagnosing mental health and substance abuse patients and Illinois Mental Health Code.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.
  • Knowledge of Community Mental Health rules and the Department of Mental Health.
  • High skill in problem solving and working effectively with people.
  • Detail oriented and flexible.
  • Ability to formulate 5‑Axis diagnoses and initial treatment plan.
  • Capable of assessing client’s presentation of illness and functional level.
  • Master’s in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
  • Excellent observation, analytical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Good critical thinking skills and ability to assess, evaluate, and teach; flexible with working knowledge of all areas of medicine.

Ability to adjust priorities quickly and organize multiple tasks simultaneously.
